BEYOND PINK "Pride and prejudice"  LP

Bright colors loving punkettes from the Crime city (aka Malmo) don't want to let you take a breath. New record is coming and with the same spirit as always in their case - it's not just a copy of the previous release. They're good with being able to escape from any sort of cliche and boredom, having good laugh on it  but still keeping a hardcore punk band to the bone. Beyond Pink are here to bring back colors to monotonous uniformed scene and they always happy to see some surprised faces around.
It's 10 years on their backs now, so we can definitely say about solid unit here, but especially in the last couple of years their became very active with plenty of shows and some important festivals around Europe and received well deserved feedback for their commitment.
"Pride and prejudice" is 10 songs, sounding sometimes a little heavier than previous 12" - so there's still some fast HC songs, as well as more catchy and melodic parts and yet  " Jag lever pa hoppet", a love song that will make hearts of punx in love beating faster. There's also something extra for all the boys who's coming to see The Pink in action and not just as a coatracks for their girlfriends going wild in the pit.

As most know already PUSSY RIOT has been found guilty by the Russian court and sentenced for 2 years in August this year.
Members of PUSSY RIOT where among the founders of the political-artistic group VOINA in 2007 (which later divided into separate projects) and are rooted in a intellectual-artist environment, but identifying themselves with ideas related to punk and the Riot Grrrl Movement.
Punk, but also the queer and feminist-anarchist movement indeed has a history of similar types of performances, but also a history of repression by state authorities. Just to mention CRASS, DEAD KENNEDYS, but even SEX PISTOLS. Solidarity to PUSSY RIOTs and Bands is important, but its also important to not forget about the reality ordinary punx face everyday.

Many punk kids face repression everyday, because of not conforming to dress codes which the majority of society approves. They face violence in the streets, repression in the school systems and are very often harassed by the police. In most countries, when you would wear a mohawk for example you can be sure to be controlled by police quite often. Also in Poland police repression against punx looking like punx is still common. Most of the times punx are at the margins of society and don't get much publicity when being repressed, beaten up etc. Sometimes the repression gets systematic, legal and administrative forms. In some countries like Indonesia punx are jailed and put into sort of re-education camps. When attending a punk concert in Belarus one can risk being arrested as well. Some years ago former education minister of Poland - Roman Giertych did plan to establish re-socialisation camps for school kids in 2008, advertising for his project with pictures of punk kids. Luckily he lost his mandate before being able to finish his plans.

Here you can read the final statement of PUSSYRIOT

(from left)

Pussy Riot is a Russian feminist punk band. On February 21, five members of the group staged a performance on the altar of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow as a protest against the re-election of Vladimir Putin. The performance, which lasted less than a minute, consisted of the women crossing themselves and chanted ?Our Lady, Chase Putin Out!? before being aprehended by security guards. The performance was edited into the band?s ?punk prayer.?

Three members, Maria Alyokhina, Yekaterina Samutsevich, and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova were arrested two weeks later and charged with ?hooliganism motivated by religious hatred.? If found guilty, they each face up to three years in prison. The following closing statements were translated via N+1(...)
